In the class, Pn Ros give each group a set of question that need to be answer based on the article of A Case Study in Small Business in North-West Tasmania.We need to answer the following 4 question:

       1. Summarize the business practice of a small company in North West Tasmania.

       2. Identify the company business processes.

       3. Describe the problems and issues that the company is facing before the

           reengineering  process.

       4. Based on your opinion, suggest the solution to the problems and issues above.

WHAT Template    

Collecting payment is important for staff

  • Staffs’ salary must accurate base on their working hours
  • Punch card collection must be on time
  • Every branch must have representative to manage staff salary

System to calculate salary is required

  • To calculate the salary need to have different calculation because there are part time and full time worker
  • Calculation must be accurate
  • Efficient system of calculation for the salary
WHO Template    

The finance manager is required to collect or double check the salary amount

  • Can be done by other staff. For example clerk
  • To hired a representative to collect the details of salary

Only specific person is required to calculate the salary

  

  • Can be done by other management staff
  • Expose and train the staff how the salary been calculate
WHERE Template    

A staff can only collect salary at the office (check)

  • To make sure staff get their salary in easy way
  • Using the bank-in system
WHEN Template    

Salary must be calculate and check before the payroll

  • Salary details must be collect on time so that the calculation can be made
  • The system that enable collect staff working hours and calculate the salary every month end

Salary be pay on time to staff is important

  • Staff will get the salary on time
  • The system that enable calculate the staff salary on time
 WHY Template     

Staff salary must be retrieve at finance department to ensure the availability of salary to staff account

  • Staff manager in HQ should keep in touch with finance department all the time
  • Establish web mail to ease communication between department

A staff manager must collect punch card with him to ensure correct staff’s working hours insert into MS Excel to do the calculation

  • Punch card should available and locate safely and conunient to staff manager
  • Establish electronic staff’s entry and off system that authorize by account manager
HOW Template    

Salary be counted based from full time and part time

  • Salary be counted manually by MS Excel and after that they need to double check using the calculator
  • To have an efficient system that can calculate accurately

Salary will be distribute to staff in different way

  • Finance will bank in the salary to staff account

     ( for OT or allowance  

       using check)

  • Using one method to distribute money (salary/OT/allowance)

In this week, we had a second presentation for our group project progress. In this presentation,we present about our finding on business process that we want to re-engineered. Our group has decided to re-engineered on salary process.

Besides that,we also have a discussion about how to complete our template according to the business process that we have decided to re-engineered.

Week 7,8 & 9 September 9, 2007

Week 7:

On week 7, we only meet up to discuss more about the assumption template & prepare the salary calculation based from our understanding during our interview on previous week(week 6).

Week 8 :

no group meeting (Mid term break)

Week 9:

On week 9, since we need to prepare slides for presentation on our progress; we had a meeting on Tuesday(4/9/07 ;830pm-11pm) to discuss on the contents and prepared the slides as well. Then, on Wednesday(5/9/07 ; 9am-11am) we meet up for further discussion and completed the slides. But we not be able to present during class hour because not enough time since there are many groups that need to present on their progress too. So, the presentation for our group will be continue next Wednesday.
